Starting the Journey Home

We woke up bright and early to start the trek to the border to hopefully beat the Good Friday crowds with probably a couple fun detours along the way.

The team has been so challenged and blessed with the kids and the ministry down in Vicente Guerrero. As one car responded this morning when reflecting on the trip, “We don’t want to leave. We love it down here!” And when asked what they want to remember/make sure never to forget, the answer was “EVERYTHING!”

Tuesday in Baja

Good evening, everyone! We are so sorry for not checking in sooner today. It has been a busy one, and we’re just getting a little down time after having some amazing tacos in town. So, the coffee shop is open and the students are out playing with the kids from the mission.

This morning, we were blessed to be able to serve at Rancho de Cristo, a men’s rehabilitation center associated with FFHM. Beyond hearing some amazing testimonies of God’s provision and answers to prayer for that ministry, we all got some work done for them around their grounds. However, we were far more blessed than we could’ve possibly hoped to have been to them.

After a quick lunch at the base, we headed out to help run an afternoon service with the children at a local migrant camp, which left our students feeling very humbled as they were impacted by the conditions of the camp but even more impacted by the children with whom they were able to talk and play.

We will meet as a team again tonight to check in with each other and continue to see how God’s been working in the trip and through these wonderful people down here that we’re getting to hear from and serve beside!

Good 1st Day

As soon as we arrived, we were able to go on a tour of the ministry, getting to hear so many different amazing God stories of how He has worked and provided for Foundation for His Ministry throughout the years! After getting to grab dinner, the team got moved into their rooms and then got to spend the rest of the evening hanging out and playing with the younger kids, giving the host parents an evening off. 

The little ones wanted to play soccer, make bracelets, play catch, and hang out in the coffee shop, and we loved every second of it! Most of the older kids are gone on a retreat this week, but some graduates of the ministry that we got to know a couple years dropped by to play soccer after the younger kids headed back to their homes. It has been so fun to reconnect with them, and our kids are now loving playing with them for a bit before debriefing from the day. Tomorrow’s going to come quickly and be a very full day, so please be praying that we get some good rest tonight!

We just made it in to Foundation for His Ministry and are headed out on a tour right away! We’ll get back to you soon :)

Team Baja! We’re getting close!

After a quick stop for breakfast before the border and another once we got to Ensenada, our three vans have made it through the hills and past the road construction. Now we are finally getting close to Vicente Guerrero and can’t wait to get there!
